Provider.of всегда возвращает null Flutter

У меня есть объект провайдера, который работал на прошлой неделе, пока я не сделал

flutter channel stable
flutter upgrade

и теперь он всегда возвращает null.

Оказывается, мое обновление вызвало необходимость добавления новых зависимостей firebase.

В pubspec.yaml пришлось добавить:

firebase_core: ^0.5.2

И в основном пришлось добавить

await Firebase.initializeApp();

прямо перед

runApp(MyApp());
